What we predict comes up
From the syllabus weighting and how the papers are usually set. The papers below follow it.
- Numbers and algebra24%Numbers, fractions, indices, logarithms, surds, equations, inequalities, variation and series fill most of the short Section I questions on both papers.
- Geometry and mensuration20%Area, volume, similarity, polygons, bearings, circle theorems and a loci construction appear on both papers, usually with at least one full Section II question.
- Vectors, matrices and transformations14%Vectors I and transformations lean to Paper 1; matrices, matrix transformations and collinearity lean to Paper 2.
- Statistics and probability13%A grouped-data question (mean, median or standard deviation) is a near-certain Section II choice, and probability returns on Paper 2.
